The Northern and Southern media debate the status of reconstruction in Virginia.

Transcription

The civil courts in Virginia are demonstrating the fitness of that ancient Commonwealth for re-admission to Congressional privileges. Several parties have been tried for the occupy of estates deserted by their rebel owners ad leased to them by the United States Government, and judgements rendered against them. Damages and costs have been adjusted against others proven to have acted during the war as scouts and spies for the Union armies, and through whose supposed information rebel farmers were despoiled of their cattle and forage- New York Tribune Will the Tribune give its authority for the above statement? We do not think there is a word of truth in it.
