The Freedmen's Bureau receives "gratifying" news of freedmen entering contracts with whites across the South.
Very gratifying information has reached the bureau from different parts of the southern states in relation to the disposition of the freed people. Everywhere they seem to be entering contracts for the present year. And cheerfully and faithfully entering upon the discharge of the obligations contracted.-Chronicle
