Description

Conservatives at the Dispatch remain worried about the Radical takeover occurring in the government. The Dispatch believes "they intend to hold control of the government by any means in their power". Conservatives also speculate about the upcoming trial of Jefferson Davis which held the attention of the Dispatch for many weeks prior, but now edges closer. Some southerners speculate that Davis will receive a Presidential pardon, but others remain doubtful. The Sons of Temperance gain power in the South as they build new meeting places and receive more media coverage. The Dispatch now reports the meetings of the group weekly as more and more Virginians join the group.
