Title

Advancing the Infrastructure, December 11-17, 1870

Description

Richmond is in line to not only gain a boost to its railroads, but to its infrastructure as a whole. However, these improvements will not come easily. For the railroads, the hearts, minds, and wallets of the citizens of Richmond must be won over - only then will the city be able to afford a proposed narrow gauge railroad to come through the city. The true improvement to the infrastructure of the city comes in the form of not only a railroad that would open the city up to the west, but also as a port that would open up the city to foreign trade. Along with these proposed railroads and ports comes a heap of commercial and social benefits - benefits that may just be enough to sway the citizens of Richmond.
