The Chesapeake and Ohio railroads have created a new sense of unity throughout the nation. Previously meant for commuting goods across the coast, these railroads are now providing a connection of communication allowing for the support of a University. Having a national school is a concept that is bringing some unity between the North and South. The support of many citizens is important to the completion of this unification project. Issues between liberals and conservatives are still apparent through this hopeful progression towards a united nation which is no surprise.
