Mr. Davis

December 10, 1868

Summary

The Dispatch defends Davis against an article saying that Davis did nothing wrong or unconstitutional in leading the Confederacy

Transcription

Mr. Davis. - The Boston Advertiser says that Mr. Jefferson Davis " finds himself a "fugitive on the earth under circumstances which must forever debar him from the intercourse of respectable men." The editor of the Advertiser would be more highly honored than he has ever heretofore been if he could enjoy the associations which Mr. Davis does, both in this country and Europe. The very first men in both hemispheres - men of high birth, wealth, and culture - seek his company. We cannot imagine why the Advertiser should go out of its way to make a statement notoriously untrue.
