<text>The Colored Conservative Republican Club of Richmond wrote to the Colored Voters of Virginia. In this address, they ask blacks to support Governor Walker even if they did not during the election. The black men ask them to be good citizens and remember how far they have come since slavery. The Club wrote that they should "rejoice and be exceeding glad that the God of Israel has been our God of deliverance, and that he has given us as allies that more powerful race, (the native whites), whose lands we occupy, and through whose instrumentality we are being afforded the means of providing for our families, of educating our children, of acquiring intelligence and respectability, and of worshipping that God whose hand of deliverance is so clearly discernable in our giant strides to prosperity and happiness." Rather than complain about the recent election, they should celebrate how far they have come in the past ten years. The Colored Conservative Republican Club thinks supporting Walker now is the best path to prosperity and a successful Reconstruction for black Virginians.</text>

<text>General Grant a Strong Radical-- A leading member of the Republican party of Mississippi, who left here some days since to see the President, has just returned from Secretary Fish's residence on the Hudson. He had a long interview, during which the politics of Mississippi were fully discussed, the President himself lending off in a free statement of his own views on the condition of affairs in the South. If the gentleman who had the interview felt at liberty, without the President's permission, to give in detail the views so fully expressed to him, there would no longer be the slightest doubt that the former heartily sustained the party that supported Wells in Virginia. Stokes in Tennessee, and now opposes Dent in Mississippi. There is not the slightest reason to doubt that he is strongly opposed to the Pent movement, believing that it is intended mainly to defeat the only loyal party in that State. So definite and clear were the views expressed by the President that a publication of them is deemed most important by leading Republicans. A careful statement is being prepared, and the President's permission for its publication will be asked on his arrival tomorrow-- Washington Telegram--New York Tribune</text>
