Colored Fair

December 28, 1866

After talks about the city fair hosted by white people for weeks, the Dispatch briefly mentions the colored fair". The Second African Baptist church is planning a fair the proceeds for which will be used to rebuild their church. The Dispatch says this is a very noble plan that should be supported."

Colored Fair.--The members of the Second African Baptist church are holding a fair at Dill's bakery for the purpose of raising funds to aid in rebuilding their church, which was destroyed by fire about one year ago. The membership of this church embraces many of the most worthy of our colored population, and deserve the aid of our community in their efforts to erect their house of worship.
