Radical Endorsements of Applications for Pardon
April 5, 1867
Summary
The President submits his list of pardons to the Senate for approval. The list is over 3,000 long and has been heavily endorsed by radicals in the past.
Transcription
The supplemental list of pardons granted by the President was communicated to the Senate on the last night of the session, but is just printed. It contains nearly three thousand names, together with the list of persons who recommended the pardons. The absurdity of the Radical clamor against the President is handsomely exposed by this latter list. It shows that in almost every instance the Radicals have endorsed the applications for pardons. The notorious Jack Hamilton has endorsed nearly three hundred of such applications.
